Singleton J. Yeary, a retired longtime Jessamine County builder and developer, died Tuesday at the Veterans Administration Medical Center on Leestown Road in Lexington after a long illness. Yeary, of 106 Bell Court in Nicholasville, was 89. Yeary bought the old Simpson & Willis Lumber Co. in Nicholasville about 1943 and changed its name to Yeary Lumber Co. About 1954, the business became known as Yeary Lumber & Concrete Co.

Singleton Joseph Yeary, Jr., 75 of Garden Springs Dr., Lexington, died unexpectedly at his home. He was the retired President of Yeary Lumber and Concrete Co. in Nicholasville. He is survived by a daughter, Jana Yeary Wood and husband Steve of Nashville; a son, Singleton Yeary III of Lawerenceburg; 2 Grandchildren: Steve Wood III and Elizabeth Wood of Nashville; Step granddaughter Katherine Wood of Nashville; a sister, Mrs. Robert F. Simpson of Nicholasville; brother Richard C. Yeary of SC. Funeral services were held Nov 16 at Maple Grove Cemetery. Honorary Bearers were Barclay Sturgill, Lynn Grogan, Ed Allin, Richard Derickson.

YOUNG, ELLA SANDUSKY
The Journal, with much sorrow, this week announces the death of it’s faithful correspondent at Pinckard, Mrs. Ella Sandusky Young, wife of Mr. D. A. Young, which occurred Monday morning, August 4, 1902. The deceased was a lady of many noble traits of character, numbering her friends by the scores, and always ready to extend a helping hand and speak words of encouragement to the sad. Besides a devoted husband, the deceased leaves five children; Mrs. Mattie Choate, Burgin; Robert Young, Lexington; Dessie, Haydon and David, the last three living at home. Tuesday at one o'clock, the funeral services were conducted from Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, by Rev. W. C. McCall, who paid a beautiful and worthy tribute to the deceased. The interment took place at the Lexington cemetery.

Frederick Zimmerman, Esq., of Jessamine County. Died when thrown from his horse “with such violence that it put a period immediately to his existence,” on Thursday evening, December 11, 1804.
